Apprentice Hearing Care Assistant (HCA)

About the role:

The role will assist in the delivery of our community adult hearing loss service. Working with existing service users providing repairs of hearing aids and reviewing care plans and all aspects of aftercare for individual patients, involving carers and families as appropriate. The role mostly focuses on supporting the follow up and aftercare stages of the Hearing Care Patient Pathway but also provides some administrative support to clinicians working in the service.

The post involves a mix of technical, administrative and patient support/contact duties which have clearly defined protocols and are aimed at supporting our patients to make the most from their hearing solution and making aftercare service as accessible as possible

*Scope of practice will expand as training progresses throughout the apprenticeship

This post is a 2yr apprenticeship program with a permanent role at the end of the period.

Business hours are Monday -Saturday 08:00-20:00 – Some weekend and early evening working will be required.

2 positions are available:

1x 24 hours per week

1x 37.5 hours per week

The training program will include:

Level 3 Diploma – Healthcare assistant and role specific training. Once training is completed registration with BSHAA (British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists is required as an HCA (Hearing Care assistant)

Microsuction earwax removal training

Possible progression onto a degree apprenticeship programme to become a registered hearing aid dispenser and adult audiologist dependant upon service requirements and the individual.
