Once your GP has referred you to Novus Health
You will be seen by a specialist Dermatology GP. Please bring a list of medications that you are currently taking, any photographs you may have taken of your condition. Our surgeon will ask you about your problem and how it affects you. Please prepare for this and have any questions ready that concern you.
If you require a medication for your condition, we will issue a prescription for at least the first 14 days. For longer periods, we will write to your own GP and your GP will prescribe the medication required.
If you require a minor procedure this will be booked for a separate occasion and we will contact you by telephone to arrange your appointment. We offer minor procedure clinics at 3 locations across the district in Wakefield, Normanton and Methley. Tissue recovered during your minor procedure may be sent to the Pathology Lab at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of your skin condition.
Following the successful treatment of your condition, you will be discharged from our service back to the care of your GP. However, you may experience a flare-up of the condition at some point in the future. Our service enables you to self-refer back into an SOS Appointment for up to 12 months after we have discharged you. This is only available for the same condition, but will save you having to go back to your GP and will improve the speed with which you can get an appointment.
In the majority of cases your entire treatment will be delivered outside of a hospital setting, however, there may be occasions where your condition warrants an onward referral to Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust for specialist treatment or further opinion from a consultant. Should this be necessary, we will make arrangements for the transfer of your care and MYHT will contact you directly to confirm any appointments.
